Privacy

This page explains which personal data Doctoria processes and why.

When you browse the site

You can browse the site without an account. Only the cookies the site needs to work are used: the session cookie, the form security cookie, the cookie that remembers the language you last read and takes you back to it when you open doctoria.org and, if you tick “Keep me signed in on this device” when signing in, the cookie that remembers you. There are no advertising or tracking cookies and no third-party analytics.

The session record holds your IP address and your browser details; it expires after two hours without use. The server also keeps access logs for security and troubleshooting.

If you create an account

Your name, your WhatsApp number and your password are stored; the password is kept only as an unreadable hash. To verify your number and to reset your password, a code is sent to you over WhatsApp. For this, your number is passed to Meta, which operates WhatsApp.

Your account details are kept until your account is deleted. Write to us to ask for its deletion.

If you send a suggestion or a profile claim

Your message and, if you gave them, your name, your e-mail address and the source link are stored. Only the editors who review the request see them.

If you write to us

When you write to our WhatsApp line or our e-mail address, your message, your number or e-mail address and the name you show are stored. Only the editors who answer the message see them. Files you send are not kept. WhatsApp messages reach us through Meta, e-mails through Google.

Data about doctors

Doctors’ names, titles, specialties, institutions and CVs are taken from the public pages of the institutions; their publications from open academic records such as OpenAlex, ORCID and Europe PMC. The purpose is to let patients find the doctor who works on a disease. This processing rests on the legitimate interest in making public professional information accessible.

On pages in languages other than Turkish, CVs and disease names are translated by an automatic translation service. Doctors can ask for their profile to be corrected or removed.

Who sees the data

Your data is not sold and is not used for advertising. It is shared with no one except Meta, which delivers the verification codes, and the provider of the server that hosts the site.

Your rights

Write to us to access the data held about you, to have it corrected or deleted, or to object to its processing. You can also lodge a complaint with the data protection authority of the country where you live: the CNIL in France, the Personal Data Protection Authority (KVKK) in Turkey.
